One Hand Clapping
a music–dance performance

Two bodies in a space:
Feet fidget, arms flutter, necks crane and heads collide; for a brief moment hands cut the air with woodblocks and a bow glides and skitters, together beginning a dance. Sounds appear within an instant, the impulse of an arm sweeps them away onto a journey of their own. Hovering over the instrument, a body melts into melody, another swiftly alters shape and dynamics. Movements trace the space, movements beat the time, sounds arch the body’s back and caress our ears.
The performers are entangled in a game of sounds and gestures and explore the potential of this encounter, lightly shifting between sounds and movements. The audience is being led from the poetic to the bizzare, from the humorous to the serious, from the emotional to the factual, through richly intense situations and atmospheres. The interaction between music and dance opens up spaces where the compositional handling of bodies, sounds and time is the essential element of performance.
The performance venues vary from industrial spaces to conventional stages, from white cube to black box, from urban to insider spots.

Zwei Körper in einem Raum:
Unruhige Füsse, flatternde Arme, Nacken recken sich und Köpfe prallen aufeinander; für einen kurzen Moment schneiden Hände die Luft mit Hölzern und ein Bogen gleitet und schlittert, zusammen einen Tanz beginnend. Klänge tauchen augenblicklich auf, der Impuls eines Arms wischt sie auf eine eigene Reise fort. Über ein Instrument gebeugt verschmilzt ein Körper mit Melodie, ein anderer ändert geschickt Form und Dynamik. Bewegungen zeichnen Raum, Bewegungen schlagen die Zeit, Klänge biegen den Rücken und liebkosen unser Ohr.
Die Performer sind in ein Spiel von Klängen und Gesten verwickelt und loten das Potential dieser Begegnung aus, während sie leichtfüssig zwischen Ton und Bewegung wechseln. Das Publikum wird vom Poetischen zum Bizarren geleitet, vom Heiteren zum Ernsthaften, vom Emotionellen zum Sachlichen, durch reichhaltige Situationen und Atmosphären hindurch. Die Interaktion zwischen Musik und Tanz eröffnet Räume worin der kompositorische Umgang von Körper, Klängen und Zeit das essentielle Element der Performance ist.
Die Spielorte variieren von industriellen Räumen zu konventionellen Bühnen, vom white cube zur black box, von urbanen zu insider Orten.
